The Acropolis is the number 1 attraction of Athens.
Its various classical monuments (the Propylae, the majestic Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechthion) are a glorious testimony to the Golden Age of Ancient Greece. You will need to do some mild climbing to get to the hilltop where the Acropolis stands, but you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the city below. Don’t forget to take good shoes, the rocks and marble can be very slippery. Don’t forget also a bottle of water and sun lotion!
The Acropolis ticket is a little expensive, but it gives you access to other archeological sites of Athens for 4 days. In the winter (November-March), the first Sunday of every month is free.
