How to get from the airport to the city?
By metro: The metro gets to the city center in 40 minutes, and costs 8 euros. You have to change at the station: “Doukissis Plakentias”. The metro doesn’t operate at night: the first one leaves the airport at 6:30 and the last one at 23:30, and there is a train every half hour. Depending on where you are staying, you may need to get off at Syntagma or Monastiraki stations, or change at Syntagma to the red line to get to the stations Panepestimiou, Omonia or Acropolis. NOTE: You have to validate your ticket in the machines at the entrance before getting on the train.
By bus: the X95 gets you to Syntagma Square, which is a very central location in Athens. The route takes about 50 minutes and costs 5 euros. It leaves every 10 or 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. You buy the tickets at a small booth outside the arrival gate, between exits 4 and 5, next to the bus station. Website of the bus: www.oaka.gr

By Taxi: Taxis are relatively cheap in Athens. There is a flat rate from the airport to the city center of 38 euros during the daytime. It includes everything, luggage, tolls, etc. Between midnight and 5 a.m, the price is 54 euros. You can find taxis waiting at the exit 3 of the airport.
