FAQ

Athens is a great destination all year round, as it has over 300 days of sunshine per year.

Is it dangerous to travel to Athens?

No. First, riots and demonstrations look much scarier on the TV screen than in reality. Second and most important, citizens and travelers are not targeted by the very little minority sometimes resorting to violence on the fringes of the peaceful demonstrations. Our advice, in case of a demonstration, is to keep away from the specific area and enjoy other parts of Athens.

When is the best time to travel?

Athens is a great destination all year round, as it has over 300 days of sunshine per year. The months of July and August are usually more hot and crowded. The best time is April until June and September until November.

I have a stopover in Athens, what should I do?

There are no Kosher facilities in or near the airport, only in the city center. If your stopover is less than 4-5 hours, it’s not worth it to come into town as it takes 45 mn to an hour each direction. If you have more time, see how to get from the airport to the city center and what not to miss in Athens.  A great option is to take one of the Athens Jewish City tours to see as much as possible from the city. If you stay in the airport, you can visit on the 1st floor the small archeological museum and changing exhibits, and the children can play at the children’s area of Hamogelo tou Paidiou.
